I'm sitting at my desk this morning when the dogs start losing their shit. That's not altogether uncommon, but it turns out it was for a good reason (for once?) A gigantic heron-y bird landed just across the pond from my office window. I say heron-y, because I know next to nothing about gigantic birds. Quite possibly it really is a heron, but I can't tell you because when I googled "blue heron" all I got was restaurant websites. So - popular restaurant name, probable visitor to my farm this morning.
Usually it hangs out across the pond, or up in a tree, but this morning it was feeling brave. Once I put the dogs in the house it sauntered all the way around to my front yard, and right past my studio. It is incredibly gawky looking on land, like a baby giraffe. But still beautiful. And here are the grainy, shot through the window because I didn't want to scare it off, pictures to prove it.
