I ventured away from home yesterday for the first show I've ever done outside of the Asheville area. Which seems really weird, but for so long my business was primarily online, so I didn't do many shows, and the ones I did were done somewhat grudgingly. But lately that seems to be taking a turn - I'm enjoying the shows and having fun meeting new people. And so I applied for a show in Knoxville, which, while only a couple of hours from here, is still the furtherest I've gone.
I was, quite frankly, pretty honored to be accepted to the show. I made it slightly more interesting by rolling my ankle while running on the Mountain to Sea trail on Saturday morning, so I wasn't quite sure how loading a full booth in and out, and standing for the 8 hours in between, was going to go, but it turned out just fine. (I highly recommend a compression sock if you find yourself in a similar situation. It's seeming to be the magic bullet of this current ankle situation.)
So, to summarize, I'm going to keep looking for more shows in different locales. It's good to get out in the world, and I'm in a season where that's high on my list. If you know of any shows - let me know! And if you stopped by yesterday at The Retropolitan - thank you! It was so fun to meet all of you.
