Checking in with a quick update on my current work in progress. And for once that's singular - only one work! That's actually my preference - one thing at a time - but I don't often manage to stay there. Too many tempting things - and in fact I'm probably about to add another when I go to Black Mountain Yarn Shop this evening for knit night.
Their Instagram feed had a few gorgeous combinations to make The Shift by Andrea Mowry, and if they've been nice enough to take all of the work out of picking the colors, it's highly likely I'm adding that to my WIP. Also I need a mindless knit project to have on the back burner, and I saw a woman knitting one of these cowls yesterday who assured me that, despite all appearances, it's completely mindless once you get the pattern established.
But back to my original point - the current WIP. I love crochet but don't usually love patterns for crochet garments. Thus, imagine how happy I was when this pattern popped up! It's in the new spring edition of Interweave Crochet, and I've been sitting on this exact amount of yarn in Malabrigo sock yarn, so it seemed like serendipity.
So far it's fun, although it has certainly been a little squirrelly for me to keep my stitch counts correct with all of the short rows. I'm liking it though -seems like a perfect light weight vest.
This pic of my progress also shows off one of my favorite projects of late - I've been making stitch markers! You can either use them on a knitting needle by themselves, or hang them from a locking marker like I've done here. And when they aren't on my knit or crochet, they're hanging on a chain around my neck as a necklace. In fact, I like them so much I've been wearing the necklace all of the time regardless of whether there's any crochet happening or not. I'm working hard to get them ready to meet the world, and feeling excited to have a project that marries my love of jewelry and fiber arts.
